LinkedIn is expanding on its individual podcasts, with the piloting of its new LinkedIn Podcast Network. In their announcement last week, the company said the scheme would give audiences access to leading industry creators as well as shows created by their in-house News team.

Shows will be geared towards a professional audience and will cover areas such as decoding tech, understanding the hiring process, and managing mental health, and more.

There will also be opportunities for external podcasts to become a part of the LinkedIn Podcast Network, giving brands a chance to get their content in front of a wider professional audience. You can register your interest via this form.

Podcast shows will be available globally directly on LinkedIn by following podcast hosts and subscribing to their weekly newsletters. You can also catch them on other podcast platforms such as Apple and Spotify.

LinkedIn is hoping the podcasts will spark conversations and continued engagement with the host and the wider community.

"With the LinkedIn Podcast Network… the conversation is just beginning when you’ve finished a show. The hosts will continue to engage with listeners — existing ones and new ones drawn from LinkedIn’s global community of 810 million members —  through posts, videos, Newsletters, LinkedIn Live events and more.”

Podcasts have become a significant means of distributing content and building audiences. Research shows continued and steady growth for podcasting, with 28% of the 12+ population in the US now weekly podcast listeners.

Linkedin is following in the footsteps of HubSpot, who last year launched their own Podcast Network for a business and professional audience.
